Jacob began exploring the Sierra Nevada and California’s coast with his family at a young age. His time spent outdoors led him to pursue a career in biology. His studies brought him to Fresno City College where he took a field biology course, learning the flora and fauna of the Sierra Nevada and the central coast of California. From Fresno, he travelled north to Humboldt State University where he completed a Bachelors in Biology with an emphasis in Ecology and Biodiversity. While in Humboldt County, Jacob conducted dune vegetation surveys, participated in ecological restoration of northern oak woodland communities, and created a floristic inventory for the Arcata Community Forest. He now conducts botanical surveys throughout California and helps tree crews avoid and minimize impacts to sensitive biological resources in the Sierra Nevada. Outside of work, Jacob can be found backpacking, mountain biking, photographing flora and fauna, and spending time with his family.
